Rev. Joseph Dacosta

Rev. Joseph Dacosta has been a Christian for over 20 years. He met Christ in 1986 after he was expelled from the then College of Arts Science and Technology (CAST) as a result of his extremely poor academic performance and general bad behaviour. He was baptized in 1987 and his life was instantly, drastically and dramatically changed.

He was directed by God to re-apply to CAST and was re-accepted on the basis of his conversion to Christianity. Rev. Joseph went on to complete the course, even achieving the Jamaica Institute of Engineers award for the Student with the best academic performance in Construction Studies.

A few years later, he went back to UTECH and was among the first batch of students to graduate from UTECH with a degree in Construction Management and Engineering.

Rev. Joseph Dacosta has always felt God’s call to ministry, and so in 1999, he pursues theological studies at the Caribbean Graduate School of Theology, where he obtains a Masters degree.

Rev. Joseph Dacosta presently serves as the Assistant Pastor of the Portmore Holiness Christian Church in Portmore. He is also a fulltime Quantity Surveyor with Tank-weld Special Projects and a Consultant Quantity Surveyor with Food for the Poor.

Rev. Joseph Dacosta has been married to Denise Dacosta for 12 years.

He lives his life on two basic philosophical or biblical principles:

  • If it’s missing from my life now, it’s because it’s not good for me now, or never will be good for me
  • Obey God first and ask questions after.
